Ciro Meireles made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Romário Medeiros in the 6th minute of play. Augusto Valadares's late challenge caught a Sport Club Z15's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Augusto Valadares helped the player get up and apologised. In the 13th match minute, Gaivotas da Fiel was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Augusto Valadares to maneuver through the defense. With a couple of smart ball manuevers João Trigo in the 16th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Márcio Dionísio saved Sport Club Z15 from getting behind. Zézinho Lucas's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 18thth minute, Ciro Meireles skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. After 18 played minutes Gaivotas da Fiel got a freekick which was hit by Sebastião Hermes. Válbson Pinheiro struck a weak shot in the 21st minute. Márcio Dionísio didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Gaivotas da Fiel. If João Trigo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 24th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After having played for 25 minutes, Válbson Pinheiro managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Gaivotas da Fiel's supporters crossed their fingers, but Válbson Pinheiro was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The audience thought a goal was coming when Zézinho Lucas got free with Ciro Meireles in the 28th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Augusto Valadares was shown his second yellow card after 45 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. Augusto Valadares kicked well hit freekick during the 46th minute of the match.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Romário Medeiros made a kick off. Ciro Meireles showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Percy Bittencourt, who was totally free with the ball in the 56th minute. After 58 played minutes Sport Club Z15 got a freekick which was hit by Robinho Saldanha. Zézinho Lucas received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 63rd minute. Ciro Meireles tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 65th minute, Válbson Pinheiro hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Romário Medeiros had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 68th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. After 70 minutes, Erik Eger mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Gaivotas da Fiel and the Sport Club Z15 players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 70 played minutes Gaivotas da Fiel got a freekick which was hit by Erik Eger. In the 76th minute, Romário Medeiros made a precise shot to the right of Ciro Meireles. Gaivotas da Fiel's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-0. Zézinho Lucas's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Ciro Meireles read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 80th minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 85th minute, João Trigo managed to get in a good position for a shot. Gaivotas da Fiel's supporters rose to their feet, but João Trigo was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Márcio Dionísio breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Romário Medeiros fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 91st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ciro Meireles having to interfere. Válbson Pinheiro received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 94th minute. Márcio Dionísio tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The Sport Club Z15 fans cheered their team off the field, for while Gaivotas da Fiel had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
