Spectators: 7140 (Terracing: 5356, Seating: 1642, VIP seats: 142) It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Vivaldo Simão kicked off to start the match. Nelsinho Pitta stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Vivaldo Simão's shot from short distance in the 11th minute. A collision led to Castelhano getting a freekick after 11 minutes play. Silvinho Dionísio hit a great ball. Nelsinho Pitta showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ruy Barros in the 12th minute of the match. Nelsinho Pitta took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Vivaldo Simão, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a rather tough play, Castelhano's Rony Pitta got a free kick in the 22nd minute. Ruy Barros received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 23rd minute. Nelsinho Pitta tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Vivaldo Simão had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 31st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Flavinho Veloso in the 33rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Abelardo Marques prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After a defensive mix-up in Itahy's zone, Andrézinho da Silveira stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Abelardo Marques came out of the goal and Andrézinho da Silveira tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When Vivaldo Simão came up free with the goalie in the 39th minute, the Itahy fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Vivaldo Simão couldn't finish the play. In the 40th match minute, Castelhano was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Rony Pitta to maneuver through the defense. The supporters of Castelhano booed when Itahy was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 47 match minutes in a wonderful position. Lenílson Botelho didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 49th minute of the match Albertinho Freitas shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Abelardo Marques showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Flavinho Veloso made a kick off. 56 minutes into the match, Castelhano's goalkeeper Nelsinho Pitta had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Ruy Barros. 57 minutes into the match, Castelhano's goal looked a bit too open when Vivaldo Simão came free, but Nelsinho Pitta reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 60th minute Andrézinho da Silveira shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Abelardo Marques saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Abelardo Marques came out of the goal in the 61st minute to try and stop a shot by Castelhano's Silvinho Dionísio. But to his dismay, Silvinho Dionísio quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-0. When Andrézinho da Silveira came up free with the goalie in the 65th minute, the Castelhano fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Andrézinho da Silveira couldn't finish the play. After 66 played minutes Itahy got a freekick which was hit by Waldir Paraense. Andrézinho da Silveira recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 68th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The audience was convinced that Flavinho Veloso's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Abelardo Marques was relentless in the 70th minute of the game. If Andrézinho da Silveira had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 73rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Vivaldo Simão sent away a hard shot on goal in the 75th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Silvinho Dionísio during the 77th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 77th match minute, Castelhano was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Silvinho Dionísio to maneuver through the defense. In the 78th minute of the match Nelson Secco shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Nelsinho Pitta showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. 80 minutes into the match, Itahy's goal looked a bit too open when Rony Pitta came free, but Abelardo Marques reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 80th match minute, Itahy was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Waldir Paraense to maneuver through the defense. If Andrézinho da Silveira had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 84th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 84th minute, Waldir Paraense hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The audience cheered when Albertinho Freitas's long shot passed Abelardo Marques's right side. It was 2-0, 85 minutes into the match. Ruy Barros's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Nelsinho Pitta read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 92nd minute of play. Andrézinho da Silveira sent away a hard shot on goal in the 97th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. Castelhano had won after a very even match.
