Arí de Toledo started the match with the kick off. 3 minutes into the match, Clemente Barreto notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of Nightmare FC's Naldo Figueiredo. Naldo Figueiredo was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. When the match clock showed 8 minutes, the score became 0-2 when Arí de Toledo sped through Nightmare FC's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Naldo Figueiredo. Clemente Barreto sent away a hard shot on goal in the 12th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 17th minute, Gilson Fernandez hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Eurico Mello sent away a hard shot on goal in the 20th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Naldo Figueiredo came out of the goal in the 22nd minute to try and stop a shot by vila nova's Clemente Barreto. But to his dismay, Clemente Barreto quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-3. After having played for 28 minutes, Giovani de Azevedo managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Nightmare FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Giovani de Azevedo was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Filipe da Mata made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Teodoro Trevisan in the 30th minute of play. Clemente Barreto fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 31st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Naldo Figueiredo having to interfere. Arí de Toledo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 34th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 40th minute Giovani de Azevedo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Filipe da Mata saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 41 minutes into the match, Eurico Mello had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Filipe da Mata. vila nova's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Eurico Mello was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-3. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 1-3.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Giovani de Azevedo stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 51st minute Giovani de Azevedo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Filipe da Mata saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 62nd minute, Giovani de Azevedo got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 64th match minute, Nightmare FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Germano Teles to maneuver through the defense. The long shot by Paulo Renato Madureira in the 65th minute really tested Naldo Figueiredo's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. Arí de Toledo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 70th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. If Eurico Mello had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 73rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Pedro Barbosa received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 75th minute. Filipe da Mata tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Arí de Toledo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 81st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 83rd minute Arí de Toledo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Naldo Figueiredo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Eurico Mello might have been able to make a better finish in the 91st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Filipe da Mata. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Eurico Mello ran back to his position shaking his head. After some fancy dribbling in the 96th minute, Eurico Mello managed to get in a good position for a shot. Nightmare FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Eurico Mello was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Filipe da Mata breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The vila nova supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing vila nova would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
