Spectators: 7140 (Terracing: 5356, Seating: 1642, VIP seats: 142) It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Flavinho Veloso kicked off to start the match. In the 5th minute the ball was on its way in behind Arumandupa's goalkeeper Sidnei Hoffmann, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Arumandupa's Sidnei Hoffmann proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 6th minute of the match, managed to save Arumandupa from getting a goal against them. When Cláudio Mangueira came up free with the goalie in the 17th minute, the Arumandupa fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Cláudio Mangueira couldn't finish the play. After 23 played minutes Castelhano got a freekick which was hit by Murilo Nogueira. After a defensive mix-up in Castelhano's zone, Raimundo Neto stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Nelsinho Pitta came out of the goal and Raimundo Neto tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Nestor do Valle received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 28th minute. Nelsinho Pitta tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Sidnei Hoffmann took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Flavinho Veloso, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Renatinho Travassos sent away a hard shot on goal in the 37th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 40th minute Flavinho Veloso shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Sidnei Hoffmann saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Nestor do Valle hit a great freekick 41 minutes into the match. Castelhano's Flavinho Veloso got a good chance for a goal in the 42nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After having played for 44 minutes, Renatinho Travassos managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Arumandupa's supporters crossed their fingers, but Renatinho Travassos was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Nestor do Valle had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 47th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

Andrézinho da Silveira struck a weak shot in the 53rd minute. Sidnei Hoffmann didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Castelhano. In the 55th match minute, Arumandupa was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Renatinho Travassos to maneuver through the defense. Arumandupa's Cláudio Mangueira got a good chance for a goal in the 60th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Renatinho Travassos fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 61st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nelsinho Pitta having to interfere. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Renatinho Travassos in the 68th minute of play forced Castelhano's goalkeeper Nelsinho Pitta to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 73 played minutes Castelhano got a freekick which was hit by Rony Pitta. In the 75th minute, Flavinho Veloso got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. If Nestor do Valle had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 78th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Sidnei Hoffmann showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Flavinho Veloso, who was totally free with the ball in the 79th minute. Nelsinho Pitta made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nestor do Valle in the 81st minute of play. Renatinho Travassos recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 82nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Cláudio Mangueira received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 84th minute. Nelsinho Pitta tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.
