Víktor Zonta made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. Palestra's Agnaldo Barbosa got a good chance for a goal in the 16th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. When Agnaldo Barbosa came up free with the goalie in the 19th minute, the Palestra fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Agnaldo Barbosa couldn't finish the play. Pedrão Negri tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Túlio Toscano during the 28th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 28th minute, Túlio Toscano hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 36 minutes into the match, Luciano Fiz notched a goal, 2-1, to the right of Palestra's Pedrão Negri. Pedrão Negri was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Luciano Fiz in the 41stth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Pedrão Negri, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Túlio Toscano recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 42nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After a rather tough play, Palestra's Deivid Andrade got a free kick in the 44th minute. In the 46th match minute, Palestra was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Agnaldo Barbosa to maneuver through the defense. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-1 at half-time.

Pedrão Negri showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Luciano Fiz, who was totally free with the ball in the 59th minute. Luciano Fiz fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 64th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Pedrão Negri having to interfere. The supporters of Palestra booed when Beronhoso Futebol Clube was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 83 match minutes in a wonderful position. Túlio Toscano didn't get a good kick on the ball. Víktor Zonta came out of the goal in the 85th minute to try and stop a shot by Palestra's Agnaldo Barbosa. But to his dismay, Agnaldo Barbosa quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-2. Zé Carlos Marinho took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 88th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Víktor Zonta. Beronhoso Futebol Clube's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Pedrão Negri took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Luciano Fiz, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Beronhoso Futebol Clube were unable to convert their possession into goals, allowing Palestra to leave the ground with a draw.
