Spectators: 7110 (Terracing: 5442, Seating: 1668, VIP seats: 0) Cruzeiro MG's Ian Messias started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Oscar Pires during the 3rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 2nd minute, one of Cruzeiro MG:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Cruzeiro MG. 9 minutes into the game, Pompeiro's Valdemar Romero nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Cléberson Viana made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-0. 13 minutes into the match, Cruzeiro MG's goal looked a bit too open when Wágner de Lima came free, but Cléberson Viana reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Cléberson Viana made a fantastic save in the 14th minute, when Valdemar Romero sent off a good shot on target. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Wágner de Lima couldn't finish the play. Valdemar Romero received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 49th minute. Cléberson Viana tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-0.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Wágner de Lima to strike the kick off in the second half. After having played for 56 minutes, Tiaguinho Arce managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Cruzeiro MG's supporters crossed their fingers, but Tiaguinho Arce was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Cléberson Viana stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Wágner de Lima's shot from short distance in the 61st minute. Cássio Quadros kicked well hit freekick during the 99th minute of the match. After recieving a nice pass, Pompeiro's Antônio Pena tried to score from far away in the 100th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. Pompeiro's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
