When Tiaguinho Arce came up free with the goalie in the 23rd minute, the Cruzeiro MG fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Tiaguinho Arce couldn't finish the play. Canuma SC's Naldo Miranda played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ian Messias in the 25th minute of play. Cléberson Viana took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Juninho Nascimento, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 39th minute Juninho Nascimento shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Cléberson Viana saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 40 minutes into the match, Ian Messias dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Naldo Miranda, 1-0. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The wind increased when Magno Gaspar made the kick off in the second half. When Felipe Prado was, once again, overly rough in his play he received his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 53 minutes had been played. Cléberson Viana made a fantastic save in the 92nd minute, when Juninho Nascimento sent off a good shot on target. Canuma SC's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
