The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Raí Linhares showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. An unexpected shot in the 16th minute by Rubinho Pires got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Afonsinho Loureiro showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Horácio de Lara, who was totally free with the ball in the 20th minute. After 21 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Caboto! Kaká da Silva walked up to take care of the penalty kick. He was aiming for the top corner, but the ball went just outside the post. Itaipulândia Futebol Club's Raí Linhares proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 33rd minute of the match, managed to save Itaipulândia Futebol Club from getting a goal against them. After a rather tough play, Itaipulândia Futebol Club's Luís Gustavo Cabral got a free kick in the 33rd minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Horácio de Lara in the 37th minute of play forced Caboto's goalkeeper Afonsinho Loureiro to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Itaipulândia Futebol Club's Raí Linhares played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Pedro Luiz Cardozo in the 39th minute of play. 41 minutes into the match, Itaipulândia Futebol Club's goalkeeper Raí Linhares had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Rubinho Pires. After having played for 43 minutes, Rubinho Pires managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Caboto's supporters crossed their fingers, but Rubinho Pires was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Raí Linhares stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Pedro Luiz Cardozo's shot from short distance in the 48th minute.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Pedro Luiz Cardozo was the one to do the kick off. In the 55th minute, Baltazar Quadros ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Raí Linhares was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-0. Raí Linhares took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Rubinho Pires, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When the match had gone on for 65 minutes, Horácio de Lara took a quick shot and it went in 2-1 without a chance for Afonsinho Loureiro to make any attempt to save it. Raí Linhares made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Pedro Luiz Cardozo in the 71st minute of play. In the 78th minute, Horácio de Lara got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the last second Afonsinho Loureiro throw himself and got hold of the ball when Horácio de Lara in the 80thth minute from his position got away a shot towards the right post. Afonsinho Loureiro was a little too slow when Horácio de Lara got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 85th minute. The score was now 2-2. In the 90thth minute of the game Rubinho Pires who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Itaipulândia Futebol Club's Raí Linhares was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. The crowd rose to their feet as Horácio de Lara kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Afonsinho Loureiro. That made the score 2-3 in the 95 minute of play. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Itaipulândia Futebol Club eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
