Cruzeiro MG's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Licio FC the free kick. A collision led to Cruzeiro MG getting a freekick after 6 minutes play. Cássio Quadros hit a great ball. Isaltino Saraiva struck a weak shot in the 7th minute. Cléberson Viana didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. Licio FC's Isaltino Saraiva got a good chance for a goal in the 26th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Cléberson Viana stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Orlando Gerber's shot from short distance in the 31st minute. Samuca Lima was shown his second yellow card after 35 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. A collision led to Cruzeiro MG getting a freekick after 35 minutes play. Samuca Lima hit a great ball. In the 36th minute, Claudinei Bueno sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Cruzeiro MG's Cléberson Viana didn't even have to move. In the 39th minute, Toninho Branco hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 42 minutes into the game, Tiaguinho Arce cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Celso Dias was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. After the first half Cruzeiro MG were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The wind increased when Tiaguinho Arce made the kick off in the second half. If Isaltino Saraiva had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 56th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Eriberto Leão hit a great freekick 58 minutes into the match. After a rather tough play, Cruzeiro MG's Natanael Zonta got a free kick in the 60th minute. If Orlando Gerber had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 65th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Cléberson Viana made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Orlando Gerber in the 78th minute of play. Cássio Quadros was shown his second yellow card after 78 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. The supporters of Licio FC booed when Cruzeiro MG was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 79 match minutes in a wonderful position. Cássio Quadros didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Isaltino Saraiva had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 84th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Orlando Gerber in the 90th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Cléberson Viana prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Isaltino Saraiva recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 91st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 93 minutes into the match, Isaltino Saraiva notched a goal, 2-1, to the right of Cruzeiro MG's Cléberson Viana. Cléberson Viana was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Ian Messias kicked well hit freekick during the 96th minute of the match.
