Nuno Paraibano blasted a shot towards the goal in the 8th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Humberto Alagoano having to make a save. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Túlio Sampaio during the 9th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 8 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for 09 de Julho! After 11 minutes 09 de Julho's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Antônio Diniz who took care of the corner kick. Tuiti's Antônio Diniz was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Humberto Alagoano in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. After a defensive mix-up in Tuiti's zone, Juninho de Almeida stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Afonso Alagoano came out of the goal and Juninho de Almeida tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Washington França in the 18thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Afonso Alagoano, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. In the 19th minute, Nuno Paraibano left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Tuiti fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. The audience thought a goal was coming when Conrado Carvalho got free with Afonso Alagoano in the 24th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After a rather tough play, 09 de Julho's Yuri Goiano got a free kick in the 26th minute. Washington França fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 28th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Afonso Alagoano having to interfere. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Magno Velloso stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Conrado Carvalho hit a great freekick 52 minutes into the match. Juninho de Almeida took the ball and in the 54 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Afonso Alagoano. After a rather tough play, 09 de Julho's Conrado Carvalho got a free kick in the 58th minute. If Egídio Catarinense had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 60th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Washington França fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 64th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Afonso Alagoano having to interfere. Tuiti's Afonso Alagoano played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Egídio Catarinense in the 68th minute of play. Washington França received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 74th minute. Afonso Alagoano tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Afonso Alagoano showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Egídio Catarinense in the 77th minute of the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 83rd minute, Washington França managed to get in a good position for a shot. 09 de Julho's supporters rose to their feet, but Washington França was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Afonso Alagoano breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. When Magno Velloso came up free with the goalie in the 85th minute, the Tuiti fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Magno Velloso couldn't finish the play. With a little luck, 09 de Julho's Humberto Alagoano got control of the ball when Nuno Paraibano tried to sneak it across the goal line. Dinei Antunes got his second yellow card in the match during the 94th minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. 96 minutes into the match, 09 de Julho's Yuri Goiano broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. Despite being the better team, 09 de Julho failed to find the winning goal and were forced to settle for a single point.
