In the 13thth minute of the game Artemio Donio who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Pompeiro's Joélson Saldanha was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. The audience was convinced that Artemio Donio's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Joélson Saldanha was relentless in the 15th minute of the game. When João Adolfo Aguiar fell near the penalty area in the 20th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Pompeiro's protests and gave João Adolfo Aguiar a yellow card for diving instead. In the 20th match minute, Pompeiro was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by João Adolfo Aguiar to maneuver through the defense. Ponta da Praia FC's Artemio Donio got a good chance for a goal in the 22nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Luizinho Velloso could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 23rd minute of the match, but Joélson Saldanha made a huge save. After 25 played minutes Pompeiro got a freekick which was hit by Isaltino Nascimento. Valdemar Romero received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 32nd minute. Tiago Neves tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Ponta da Praia FC's Tiago Neves played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Valdemar Romero in the 34th minute of play. In the 38th minute the ball was on its way in behind Pompeiro's goalkeeper Joélson Saldanha, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Artemio Donio fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 42nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Joélson Saldanha having to interfere. Joélson Saldanha made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Artemio Donio in the 44th minute of play. The Ponta da Praia FC players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Pompeiro were winning 0-1.

The wind increased when Artemio Donio made the kick off in the second half. Luizinho Velloso received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 54th minute. Joélson Saldanha tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Joélson Saldanha showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Artemio Donio in the 56th minute of the match. The supporters of Pompeiro booed when Ponta da Praia FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 58 match minutes in a wonderful position. Alexsandro de Godoi didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 62nd minute, Luizinho Velloso left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Ponta da Praia FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-1. Joélson Saldanha didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Artemio Donio went, in the 66th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-1 was the resulting score. 72 minutes into the game, one of Pompeiro:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. In the 84th minute, Artemio Donio got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. When the referee ended the match the Ponta da Praia FC players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
