After a defensive mix-up in Anajateua's zone, Mauro Cabral stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Nilton Saldanha came out of the goal and Mauro Cabral tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After a rather tough play, Anajateua's Pedrão Pinheiro got a free kick in the 19th minute. If Luiz Fabiano Hoffmann had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 20th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Mauro Cabral in the 22nd minute of play forced Anajateua's goalkeeper Nilton Saldanha to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 22 played minutes Anajateua got a freekick which was hit by Pedrão Pinheiro. After a defensive mix-up in Anajateua's zone, Mauro Cabral stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Nilton Saldanha showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Rafa Vieira, who was totally free with the ball in the 32nd minute. After having played for 37 minutes, Luiz Fabiano Hoffmann managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Guerrilha's supporters crossed their fingers, but Luiz Fabiano Hoffmann was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 39th minute Luiz Fabiano Hoffmann shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nilton Saldanha saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Deivid Mello recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 43rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Ramiro de Sousa acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 45th minute, took the ball on the long shot from Eliseu Sá. After 46 played minutes Guerrilha got a freekick which was hit by Júlio Paraibano. The supporters of Guerrilha booed when Anajateua was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 47 match minutes in a wonderful position. Deivid Mello didn't get a good kick on the ball. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Luiz Fabiano Hoffmann to make the kick off. In the 58thth minute of the game Deivid Mello who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Guerrilha's Ramiro de Sousa was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Deivid Mello sent away a hard shot on goal in the 61st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After some fancy dribbling in the 71st minute, Mauro Cabral managed to get in a good position for a shot. Guerrilha's supporters rose to their feet, but Mauro Cabral was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Nilton Saldanha breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The audience was convinced that Luiz Fabiano Hoffmann's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Nilton Saldanha was relentless in the 77th minute of the game. Anajateua's Nilton Saldanha proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 87th minute of the match, managed to save Anajateua from getting a goal against them. In the 88th minute, one of Anajateua:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Anajateua. Nilton Saldanha made an important save on a dangerous shot by Mauro Cabral in the 97th minute.
