In the 16thth minute of the game Edgard Simões who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Utopia Futebol Clube's Ronaldão Trigo was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. When Sandrinho Donato fell near the penalty area in the 17th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Utopia Futebol Clube's protests and gave Sandrinho Donato a yellow card for diving instead. In the 20th minute, Válbson Saldanha got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After some careless play in the Betim MZC defense, Wilson Castro kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Cássio Rossi. The Betim MZC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Cássio Rossi should have stopped the shot. Cássio Rossi showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Wilson Castro in the 29th minute of the match. In the 30th minute Ricardinho Veloso shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Cássio Rossi saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 37 minutes into the match, Betim MZC's goal looked a bit too open when Wilson Castro came free, but Cássio Rossi reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Cássio Rossi made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ricardinho Veloso in the 40th minute of play. Sandrinho Donato hit a great freekick 43 minutes into the match. The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Ricardinho Veloso was the one to do the kick off. Ronaldão Trigo came out of the goal in the 52nd minute to try and stop a shot by Betim MZC's Edgard Simões. But to his dismay, Edgard Simões quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-2. An unexpectedly hard shot by Válbson Saldanha in the 55th minute of play forced Utopia Futebol Clube's goalkeeper Ronaldão Trigo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Utopia Futebol Clube's Sandrinho Donato got his second yellow card of the match in the 58th minute. The referee ordered Sandrinho Donato off the ground. After a rather tough play, Utopia Futebol Clube's Sandrinho Donato got a free kick in the 58th minute. Válbson Saldanha fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 60th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ronaldão Trigo having to interfere. Edgard Simões received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 62nd minute. Ronaldão Trigo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Cássio Rossi made an important save on a dangerous shot by Wilson Castro in the 65th minute. Betim MZC's Cássio Rossi played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Júlio Prado in the 67th minute of play. Cássio Rossi was a little too slow when Ricardinho Veloso got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 69th minute. The score was now 2-3. Cássio Rossi made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Júlio Prado in the 73rd minute of play. Wilson Castro fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 74th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cássio Rossi having to interfere. 83 minutes into the match, Betim MZC's Válbson Saldanha sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Ronaldão Trigo narrowly saved just below the crossbar. When the match had gone on for 87 minutes, Júlio Prado took a quick shot and it went in 2-4 without a chance for Cássio Rossi to make any attempt to save it. Ronaldão Trigo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Válbson Saldanha in the 92nd minute of the match. Edgard Simões blasted a shot towards the goal in the 97th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Ronaldão Trigo having to make a save.
