João Augusto da Cunha made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-0. When Vivaldo Maia came up free with the goalie in the 13th minute, the Peppas team fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Vivaldo Maia couldn't finish the play. Orlando Meirelles recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 15th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 16th minute, Ademar Velloso ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Rubens Lago was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-1. In the 22nd minute, Peppas team's Virgílio Veloso seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Virgílio Veloso the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Peppas team protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Virgílio Veloso had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. Virgílio Veloso hit a great freekick 23 minutes into the match. In the 24th minute the ball was on its way in behind Peppas team's goalkeeper Rubens Lago, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After a rather tough play, Peppas team's Fabrício Fernandez got a free kick in the 26th minute. Rubens Lago took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Beto Rezende, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Rubens Lago made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ademar Velloso in the 34th minute of play. Vermelhos's Beto Rezende got a good chance for a goal in the 36th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 1-2.

With an all-out effort, Vermelhos's Rubens Lago threw himself towards the right post 56 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Beto Rezende, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Ademar Velloso scored 1-3 in the 58th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Rubens Lago, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. After a rather tough play, Peppas team's Tiaguinho Paranaense got a free kick in the 63rd minute. Ademar Velloso's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Rubens Lago firmly grabbed it by the left post. The supporters of Vermelhos booed when Peppas team was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 70 match minutes in a wonderful position. Fabrício Fernandez didn't get a good kick on the ball. Peppas team's Rubens Lago proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 80th minute of the match, managed to save Peppas team from getting a goal against them. Rubens Lago showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Beto Rezende in the 81st minute of the match. Peppas team's Rubens Lago played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Beto Rezende in the 84th minute of play. Ademar Velloso received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 85th minute. Rubens Lago tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 88 minutes, Tony da Silva mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Vermelhos and the Peppas team players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 88 played minutes Vermelhos got a freekick which was hit by Tony da Silva. An unexpectedly hard shot by Beto Rezende in the 91st minute of play forced Peppas team's goalkeeper Rubens Lago to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 92nd minute, Beto Rezende reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Rubens Lago. The goal made the score 1-4.
