The referee ignored Cucui's protests and gave Bruno Mandrak a yellow card for diving instead. Bruno Mandrak hit a great freekick 3 minutes into the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Agnaldo de Souza in the 47th minute of play forced Cucui's goalkeeper Edvaldo Vargas to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

After a defensive mix-up in Cucui's zone, Rafinha Nascimento stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Edvaldo Vargas came out of the goal and Rafinha Nascimento tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When Rafinha Nascimento came up free with the goalie in the 75th minute, the Ossuna fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Rafinha Nascimento couldn't finish the play. 77 minutes into the match, Cucui's goal looked a bit too open when Agnaldo de Souza came free, but Edvaldo Vargas reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Abel Hoffmann sent away a hard shot on goal in the 79th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.
