The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Guga Goiano took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Josué da Fonseca, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Oncas SC's Josué da Fonseca got a good chance for a goal in the 18th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After some fancy dribbling in the 20th minute, Josué da Fonseca managed to get in a good position for a shot. Oncas SC's supporters rose to their feet, but Josué da Fonseca was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Guga Goiano breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 22nd minute Josué da Fonseca shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Guga Goiano saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. PONTE PRETA's Guga Goiano played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Josué da Fonseca in the 25th minute of play. Dieguinho Rosado struck a weak shot in the 28th minute. Luís Paulo de Barros didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for PONTE PRETA. Lucas Velasco could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 30th minute of the match, but Guga Goiano made a huge save. In the 33rd minute Josué da Fonseca shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Guga Goiano saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 34th minute, Cláudio Arantes had to leave the field with a concussion. When Oscar Velasco fell near the penalty area in the 34th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored PONTE PRETA's protests and gave Oscar Velasco a yellow card for diving instead. 39 minutes into the game, Josué da Fonseca was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Oncas SC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave PONTE PRETA the free kick. Josué da Fonseca kicked well hit freekick during the 39th minute of the match. Lucas Velasco was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 41st minute. Oncas SC's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. Hudson de Queirós's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Guga Goiano read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 46th minute of play. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Oscar Velasco to make the kick off. Guga Goiano showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Lucas Velasco in the 52nd minute of the match. Oncas SC's Lucas Velasco got a good chance for a goal in the 54th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. PONTE PRETA's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Lucas Velasco was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-0. When the referee ended the match the Oncas SC players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
