Arapiraca FC's defense didn't have a chance, in the 28th minute, when Juarês Custódio scored to the left of an out of position Gilson Mandrak, making the score, 1-1. In the 31st minute, Flavinho de Andrade hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When Tiago Ceresso came up free with the goalie in the 36th minute, the Atlético Maranhense fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Tiago Ceresso couldn't finish the play. Isaltino Pena fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 38th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without João Augusto Nascimento having to interfere. Igor Motta sent away a hard shot on goal in the 41st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Juarês Custódio received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 43rd minute. Gilson Mandrak tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

After 56 minutes, Simão Trevisan mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Arapiraca FC and the Atlético Maranhense players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Atlético Maranhense booed when Arapiraca FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 56 match minutes in a wonderful position. Simão Trevisan didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 59th minute, one of Arapiraca FC:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Arapiraca FC. The referee gave Atlético Maranhense a penalty, 61 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Igor Motta, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Arapiraca FC's Gilson Mandrak. 2-2. In the 65th minute Juarês Custódio shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gilson Mandrak saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Igor Motta had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 66th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 80th minute, Atlético Maranhense's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Víktor Marquez fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. In the 81stth minute of the game Isaltino Pena who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Atlético Maranhense's João Augusto Nascimento was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Igor Motta in the 83rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Gilson Mandrak saved Arapiraca FC from getting behind. João Augusto Nascimento made an important save on a dangerous shot by Víktor Marquez in the 87th minute. Igor Motta fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 89th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gilson Mandrak having to interfere. Gilson Mandrak came out of the goal in the 93rd minute to try and stop a shot by Atlético Maranhense's Isaltino da Cunha. But to his dismay, Isaltino da Cunha quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-3. Jeers came from both ends of the stadium when the final whistle went. Neither team had looked impressive and the draw seeemd a fair result.
