With a little luck, Avanzzeira F.C's Glauco Tasso got control of the ball when Egídio Arósio tried to sneak it across the goal line. If Egídio Arósio had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 11th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. The supporters of San Lorenzo booed when Avanzzeira F.C was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 12 match minutes in a wonderful position. Alberto Netto didn't get a good kick on the ball. Serginho Carneiro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 17th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 19 minutes into the match, San Lorenzo's Serginho Matos sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Glauco Tasso narrowly saved just below the crossbar. The Avanzzeira F.C fans' excitement grew in the 43rd match minute when Avanzzeira F.C's Serginho Carneiro looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-2 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Elder Cabral showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Serginho Carneiro in the 47th minute of the match.

Alberto Netto might have been able to make a better finish in the 51st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Elder Cabral. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 63 minutes into the match, San Lorenzo's goalkeeper Elder Cabral had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Serginho Carneiro. Tadeu Capixaba didn't get a good kick on the ball. 73 minutes into the match, San Lorenzo's goal looked a bit too open when Amauri Cearense came free, but Elder Cabral reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Glauco Tasso showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Egídio Arósio, who was totally free with the ball in the 77th minute. Elder Cabral made a fantastic save in the 84th minute, when Serginho Carneiro sent off a good shot on target. Elder Cabral didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Serginho Carneiro went, in the 86th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-3 was the resulting score. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Serginho Matos in the 90th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Glauco Tasso saved Avanzzeira F.C from getting behind. In the 94th minute, Serginho Carneiro got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. San Lorenzo's Egídio Arósio got a good chance for a goal in the 96th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Avanzzeira F.C's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
