In the 7th minute Breno Cerezo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Eric Liberatore saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 9 minutes into the match, Cássio Paiva notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of Spartacus Futebol Clube's Eric Liberatore. Eric Liberatore was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Betinho Couto charged in rather forcefully in the 16th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Betinho Couto the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Betinho Couto kicked well hit freekick during the 16th minute of the match. After a defensive mix-up in Spartacus Futebol Clube's zone, Cássio Paiva stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Eric Liberatore came out of the goal and Cássio Paiva tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Ramiro Barrals short, quick shot in the 20thth minute got Caetano Galvão to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Eric Liberatore showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Carlos Augusto Neiva in the 21st minute of the match. In the 22nd minute, Ramiro Barral ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Caetano Galvão was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-1. 27 minutes into the match, Cássio Paiva notched a goal, 1-2, to the right of Spartacus Futebol Clube's Eric Liberatore. Eric Liberatore was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. If Cássio Paiva had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 30th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 33 played minutes Spartacus Futebol Clube got a freekick which was hit by Valdemar Vergílio. Breno Cerezo recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 34th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The audience was convinced that Cássio Paiva's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Eric Liberatore was relentless in the 36th minute of the game. In the 38th minute the ball was on its way in behind SAO PAULO's goalkeeper Caetano Galvão, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Carlos Augusto Neiva sent away a hard shot on goal in the 47th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 1-2 lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Cássio Paiva made a kick off. The throw-in from Doriva Motta in the 52nd minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by Spartacus Futebol Clube's Betinho Couto. 62 minutes into the match, Spartacus Futebol Clube's goal looked a bit too open when Carlos Augusto Neiva came free, but Eric Liberatore reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a rather tough play, Spartacus Futebol Clube's João Augusto Pirani got a free kick in the 66th minute. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Cássio Paiva in the 67th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Eric Liberatore saved Spartacus Futebol Clube from getting behind. Eric Liberatore made a fantastic save in the 72nd minute, when Cássio Paiva sent off a good shot on target. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cássio Paiva in the 79th minute of play forced Spartacus Futebol Clube's goalkeeper Eric Liberatore to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Spartacus Futebol Clube's Eric Liberatore played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Doriva Motta in the 81st minute of play. SAO PAULO's attentive Carlos Augusto Neiva managed to snatch the ball when Márcio Martins made a throw-in in the 83rd minute of the game. Dráusio Veloso hit a great freekick 84 minutes into the match. The throw-in from Márcio Martins in the 96th minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by SAO PAULO's Carlos Augusto Neiva. SAO PAULO's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
