Marcelinho Cardoso blasted a shot towards the goal in the 5th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Patrick Miranda having to make a save. Atlético Lucena FC's Ruy Quadros got a good chance for a goal in the 6th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The audience was convinced that Luisão Meirelles's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Patrick Miranda was relentless in the 8th minute of the game. Marcelinho Cardoso blasted a shot towards the goal in the 11th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Patrick Miranda having to make a save. Ruy Quadros received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 13th minute. Patrick Miranda tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 17 minutes, Dé Leão mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Atlético Lucena FC and the Celeste FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Celeste FC booed when Atlético Lucena FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 17 match minutes in a wonderful position. Dé Leão didn't get a good kick on the ball. Patrick Miranda showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Marcelinho Cardoso in the 22nd minute of the match. When Vítor Tasso came up free with the goalie in the 26th minute, the Atlético Lucena FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Vítor Tasso couldn't finish the play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Dráuzio Vinhas in the 28th minute of play forced Atlético Lucena FC's goalkeeper Luizinho Negri to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Luizinho Negri made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Dráuzio Maia in the 31st minute of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Marcelinho Cardoso in the 33rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Patrick Miranda saved Celeste FC from getting behind. After having played for 34 minutes, Umberto Queiroz managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Atlético Lucena FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Umberto Queiroz was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Marcelinho Cardoso struck a weak shot in the 37th minute. Patrick Miranda didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Atlético Lucena FC. Marcelinho Cardoso recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 40th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Luisão Meirelles fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 42nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Patrick Miranda having to interfere. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

With 55 minutes on the clock, Roberto Urbano commited a dangerous tackle. The referee had no choice but to show him the red card. 55 minutes into the game, one of Celeste FC:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. In the 57th minute, the referee gave Atlético Lucena FC a penalty. Vítor Tasso looked confident and blasted the ball into goal by the left post, totally unstoppable for Patrick Miranda. In the 60th minute of the match, Marcelinho Cardoso got a very nice opportunity to score, but Patrick Miranda was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. If Ruy Quadros had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 61st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Carlos Fernando Meireles hit a great freekick 66 minutes into the match. The crowd rose to their feet as Marcelinho Cardoso kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Patrick Miranda. That made the score 0-2 in the 70 minute of play. After 73 played minutes Atlético Lucena FC got a freekick which was hit by Mauro Velloso. 75 minutes into the game, Marcelinho Cardoso recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Patrick Miranda. Marcelinho Cardoso showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 0-3. After having played for 79 minutes, Marcelinho Cardoso managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Atlético Lucena FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Marcelinho Cardoso was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Luisão Meirelles had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 92nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Marcelinho Cardoso's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 97thth minute, Patrick Miranda skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Atlético Lucena FC played a much better game than Celeste FC and deserved their victory. The Celeste FC players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
