When Elias Fontes fell near the penalty area in the 40th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Cambaras's protests and gave Elias Fontes a yellow card for diving instead. After 40 played minutes Cambaras got a freekick which was hit by Elias Fontes. With a little luck, Cambaras's Ruy Prestes got control of the ball when Chiquinho Moreno tried to sneak it across the goal line. Edvaldo Vander sent away a hard shot on goal in the 48th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

The wind increased when Dalmo Chaves made the kick off in the second half. 53 minutes into the match, Cambaras's goal looked a bit too open when Dalmo Chaves came free, but Ruy Prestes reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Ronaldo Donatello who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 65thth minute tested the skills of Edmílson Cosme when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Edmílson Cosme was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Fiori Guedes showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 0-1 in the 66 minute of play. After having played for 71 minutes, Fiori Guedes managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Edvaldo Vander might have been able to make a better finish in the 74th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Edmílson Cosme. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Catuira's Edmílson Cosme played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Fiori Guedes in the 83rd minute of play. During the 84th minute of the match Elias Fontes completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Elias Fontes a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. A collision led to Cambaras getting a freekick after 84 minutes play. Elias Fontes hit a great ball. After 86 minutes of play, Catuira's Dalmo Chaves made it 1-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Ruy Prestes was left in no man's land by his defense there! Catuira's Edmílson Cosme proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 93rd minute of the match, managed to save Catuira from getting a goal against them. A hard shot 95 in the game by Edvaldo Vander from a close distance when the talented Edmílson Cosme managed to make a qualified save. Catuira's players were relieved. After some fancy dribbling in the 97th minute, Dalmo Chaves managed to get in a good position for a shot. Catuira's supporters rose to their feet, but Dalmo Chaves was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Ruy Prestes breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Cambaras were clearly unhappy with the draw, as they felt they had done enough to earn themselves a victory.
