Ciro Gaúcho who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 11thth minute tested the skills of Marco Jacinto when he managed to save the team from getting behind. 14 minutes into the match, Vascão Clube Campeão's Ciro Gaúcho sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Marco Jacinto narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After some careless play in the Vascão Clube Campeão defense, Franklin Loureiro kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Anselmo Sabóia. The Vascão Clube Campeão fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Anselmo Sabóia should have stopped the shot. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Fábio Reis to strike the kick off in the second half. Celso Maia hit a great freekick 73 minutes into the match. Marco Jacinto showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cesinha Paraense, who was totally free with the ball in the 81st minute. Ciro Gaúcho received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 82nd minute. Marco Jacinto tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. EC Bahia's Fábio Reis got a good chance for a goal in the 94th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After some fancy dribbling in the 95th minute, Franklin Loureiro managed to get in a good position for a shot. EC Bahia's supporters rose to their feet, but Franklin Loureiro was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Anselmo Sabóia breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Anselmo Sabóia didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Franklin Loureiro went, in the 98th minute, to the upper right corner, 3-2 was the resulting score. EC Bahia's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
