Ramón Veloso showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cristian Souza, who was totally free with the ball in the 33rd minute. The supporters of AUGE FC booed when Araguainha EC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 35 match minutes in a wonderful position. Fabiano Hermes didn't get a good kick on the ball. Cristian Souza's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Ramón Veloso read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 46th minute of play. After a rather tough play, AUGE FC's Zé Paulo Mendes got a free kick in the 48th minute. After the first half AUGE FC were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Cafu Novaes made a kick off. Abel Maranhense showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Alexandre Dionísio in the 54th minute of the match. After 56 played minutes AUGE FC got a freekick which was hit by Fábio Machado. Araguainha EC's defense didn't have a chance, in the 64th minute, when Cristian Souza scored to the left of an out of position Ramón Veloso, making the score, 0-2. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cristian Souza in the 74th minute of play forced Araguainha EC's goalkeeper Ramón Veloso to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Faustão Pirani's late challenge caught a Araguainha EC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Faustão Pirani helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, AUGE FC's Faustão Pirani got a free kick in the 90th minute. AUGE FC's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
