After 9 played minutes, Curvello EC's Walmir Maia shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Frédson Paraíba came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Curvello EC reached it. When Flavinho de Lara came up free with the goalie in the 10th minute, the Capanema EC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Flavinho de Lara couldn't finish the play. Zé Pedro Massa showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Miguel Fernandes in the 11th minute of the match. Miguel Fernandes kicked well hit freekick during the 13th minute of the match. Dorival Pombal's late challenge caught a Capanema EC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Dorival Pombal helped the player get up and apologised. Frédson Paraíba was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. 24 minutes into the match, Walmir Maia had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Frédson Paraíba. Capanema EC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Walmir Maia was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-2. Flavinho de Lara received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 30th minute. Zé Pedro Massa tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 32 minutes into the match, Curvello EC's goalkeeper Zé Pedro Massa had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Flavinho de Lara. In the 34th minute Miguel Fernandes shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Zé Pedro Massa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 1-2.
