Morere's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave E.C SM the free kick. The supporters of E.C SM booed when Morere was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 13 match minutes in a wonderful position. Vágner Costa didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Amílton de Medeiros had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 18th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. João Pedro Pires charged in rather forcefully in the 23rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. A collision led to Morere getting a freekick after 42 minutes play. Filipe Camargo hit a great ball. João Pedro Pires hit a great freekick 43 minutes into the match. With a little luck, E.C SM's Nicolas Pinho got control of the ball when Inácio Severo tried to sneak it across the goal line. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The wind increased when Samuca Vasconcelos made the kick off in the second half. Eliézer Mangueira sent away a hard shot on goal in the 53rd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Nicolas Pinho made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Samuca Vasconcelos in the 57th minute of play. If Marcos Trigo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 80th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. When Igor Pernambucano came up free with the goalie in the 82nd minute, the E.C SM fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Igor Pernambucano couldn't finish the play. A collision led to E.C SM getting a freekick after 83 minutes play. Marcos Trigo hit a great ball. In the 86thth minute of the game Horácio Mazza who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Morere's Fabrício do Nascimento was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 92nd match minute, Morere was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Samuca Vasconcelos to maneuver through the defense. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched E.C SM eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
