He was aiming for the top corner, but the ball went just outside the post. 14 minutes into the match, Caruaru City's Leonel de Barros sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Dráusio Ferreira narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After 17 played minutes Caruaru City got a freekick which was hit by Rodolfo Antunes. Adilson Prata, 18 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. If Diogo Meirelles had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 22nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. When Anderson Barbosa came up free with the goalie in the 33rd minute, the Massuim fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Anderson Barbosa couldn't finish the play. If Diogo Meirelles had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 34th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The supporters of Massuim booed when Caruaru City was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 39 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rodolfo Antunes didn't get a good kick on the ball. A hard shot 40 in the game by Nestor Almeida from a close distance when the talented Perivaldo Alvarenga managed to make a qualified save. Caruaru City's players were relieved. Dagoberto Dantas's late challenge caught a Caruaru City's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Dagoberto Dantas helped the player get up and apologised. After 44 played minutes Massuim got a freekick which was hit by Dagoberto Dantas. An unexpectedly hard shot by Anderson Barbosa in the 47th minute of play forced Caruaru City's goalkeeper Perivaldo Alvarenga to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

After some fancy dribbling in the 54th minute, Doriva Romero managed to get in a good position for a shot. Caruaru City's supporters rose to their feet, but Doriva Romero was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Dráusio Ferreira breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. If Nestor Almeida had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 57th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 59th minute, Nestor Almeida got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 66 minutes into the match, Caruaru City's goal looked a bit too open when Nestor Almeida came free, but Perivaldo Alvarenga reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. A collision led to Massuim getting a freekick after 66 minutes play. Anderson Barbosa hit a great ball. Anderson Barbosa received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 84th minute. Perivaldo Alvarenga tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 99th minute Falcão França shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Perivaldo Alvarenga saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Massuim's supporters were highly satisfied with the result. They cheered their team of the pitch, having watched them win a very even match.
