After 17 minutes, Nelson Zonta mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Baependi and the Ferroviário de Tucuruí players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to Baependi getting a freekick after 17 minutes play. Nelson Zonta hit a great ball. In the 19th minute, Nelson Zonta hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Zé Pedro Ramalho made an important save on a dangerous shot by Virgílio Cerezo in the 21st minute. Zé Pedro Ramalho made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Baltazar Cunha in the 24th minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Nestor Maia got free with Zé Pedro Ramalho in the 26th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 29th minute, Ulisses Lago hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Virgílio Cerezo recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 32nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Dedé Maranhense took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from José de Mendonça, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Nelson Zonta might have been able to make a better finish in the 36th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Dedé Maranhense. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Nelson Zonta ran back to his position shaking his head. Dedé Maranhense took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Nelson Zonta, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 39th minute of the game. One of Ferroviário de Tucuruí:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Baependi:s goal. 41 minutes into the game, Valdemar Sergipano cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Dedé Maranhense was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. José de Mendonça scored 0-2 in the 47th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Dedé Maranhense, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Kléber Diniz made a kick off. If Baltazar Cunha had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 53rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Valério Macedo in the 59th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Zé Pedro Ramalho prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 59th match minute, Baependi was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Nelson Zonta to maneuver through the defense. 63 minutes into the game, Percy Negri was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Ferroviário de Tucuruí's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Baependi the free kick. The supporters of Baependi booed when Ferroviário de Tucuruí was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 67 match minutes in a wonderful position. João Augusto Sampaio didn't get a good kick on the ball. José de Mendonça struck a weak shot in the 70th minute. Dedé Maranhense didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Baependi. Zé Pedro Ramalho tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Valério Macedo fell near the penalty area in the 92nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Ferroviário de Tucuruí's protests and gave Valério Macedo a yellow card for diving instead. Baependi's supporters crossed their fingers, but José de Mendonça was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After a rather tough play, Ferroviário de Tucuruí's Nestor Maia got a free kick in the 94th minute. Baependi played a much better game than Ferroviário de Tucuruí and deserved their victory. The Ferroviário de Tucuruí players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
