After 22 played minutes IBZ S.C. got a freekick which was hit by Jonathan Meirelles. 23 minutes into the game, Júnior Santos was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Palmares FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave IBZ S.C. the free kick. In the 23rd match minute, Palmares FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Júnior Santos to maneuver through the defense. When Hernani Saldanha came up free with the goalie in the 26th minute, the Palmares FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Hernani Saldanha couldn't finish the play. Palmares FC's Aníbal de Almeida played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Sidnei Motta in the 36th minute of play. 42 minutes into the game, Nico Fantini recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Aníbal de Almeida. Nico Fantini showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-0.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Sidnei Motta stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Sidnei Motta scored 2-0 in the 52nd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Aníbal de Almeida, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Nico Fantini during the 55th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. IBZ S.C.'s supporters crossed their fingers, but Sidnei Motta was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After some careless play in the Palmares FC defense, Jonathan Meirelles kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Aníbal de Almeida. The Palmares FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Aníbal de Almeida should have stopped the shot. IBZ S.C.'s Nico Fantini got his second yellow card of the match in the 76th minute. The referee ordered Nico Fantini off the ground. After 76 played minutes IBZ S.C. got a freekick which was hit by Nico Fantini. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jonathan Meirelles in the 79th minute of play forced Palmares FC's goalkeeper Aníbal de Almeida to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The supporters of Palmares FC booed when IBZ S.C. was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 89 match minutes in a wonderful position. José Pedro Vargas didn't get a good kick on the ball.
