But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Zé Carlos Duarte couldn't finish the play. With a little luck, Scorpions EC's Alfredinho Sampaio got control of the ball when Antônio Carlos Paraense tried to sneak it across the goal line. 18 minutes into the match, ITUMBIARA E.C.'s goal looked a bit too open when Tadeu Ferreira came free, but Nildo Urbano reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Vítor de Andrade fell near the penalty area in the 19th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Scorpions EC's protests and gave Vítor de Andrade a yellow card for diving instead. Vítor de Andrade kicked well hit freekick during the 19th minute of the match. The audience thought a goal was coming when Eliseu Berger got free with Alfredinho Sampaio in the 20th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. With an all-out effort, ITUMBIARA E.C.'s Alfredinho Sampaio threw himself towards the right post 24 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from André Mesquita, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. When Scorpions EC's Jailson Trancoso in the 27th minute got a chance for a shot 27th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. In the 28thth minute of the game Zé Carlos Duarte who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but ITUMBIARA E.C.'s Nildo Urbano was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. 32 minutes into the game, ITUMBIARA E.C.'s Váldson Maciel nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Alfredinho Sampaio made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 3-0. ITUMBIARA E.C.'s Nildo Urbano played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tadeu Ferreira in the 36th minute of play. In the 42nd minute Enio Lopez suffered a thigh injury and had to be helped off the field. When Antônio Carlos Paraense fell near the penalty area in the 42nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored ITUMBIARA E.C.'s protests and gave Antônio Carlos Paraense a yellow card for diving instead. Scorpions EC made a substitution. João Paulo Dionísio replaced Enio Lopez. After 44 played minutes ITUMBIARA E.C. got a freekick which was hit by Antônio Carlos Paraense. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Jailson Trancoso to make the kick off. 52 minutes into the game, Gernando Toledo cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 3-1. Nildo Urbano was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 55th minute, Váldson Maciel ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Alfredinho Sampaio was frozen by the shot and now it was 4-1. In the 67th minute of the match Pedrinho Peres sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Alfredinho Sampaio skillfully saved the ball. Zé Carlos Duarte fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 68th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nildo Urbano having to interfere. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Zé Carlos Duarte in the 70th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Nildo Urbano prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After 71 minutes of play, Scorpions EC's Jailson Trancoso made it 4-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Nildo Urbano was left in no man's land by his defense there! Nildo Urbano took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Zé Carlos Duarte, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 83 minutes into the match, Scorpions EC's Jailson Trancoso sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Nildo Urbano narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After a rather tough play, ITUMBIARA E.C.'s Paulo Renato Matos got a free kick in the 83rd minute. ITUMBIARA E.C.'s Antônio Carlos Paraense got a good chance for a goal in the 91st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Many of Scorpions EC's supporters were seen to leave the ground early as it became clear their team was going to lose. Scorpions EC may have spent more time on the ball, but ITUMBIARA E.C. were more willing to take their chances and they walked away with the win.
