Eriberto Goiano's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 15thth minute, Emílio Vieira skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. When Tigrinho's Eriberto Goiano in the 19th minute got a chance for a shot 19th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. Juarês Barbosa fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 28th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Emílio Vieira having to interfere. Eriberto Goiano had several of the Gremio Fc's defenders around him in the penalty area when he, after 29 minutes of play, received a pass and succeeded in some way to shoot a shot which went straight ahead into goal. This resulted in a 1-0 score and a disappointed Emílio Vieira as he didn't even see the shot coming. With 34 minutes on the clock, William Urbano commited a dangerous tackle. The referee had no choice but to show him the red card. In the 33rd minute, one of Gremio Fc:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Gremio Fc. When the match had been going on for 37 minutes, Tigrinho's Sandrinho Peres got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Emílio Vieira. Emílio Vieira showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Eriberto Goiano, who was totally free with the ball in the 40th minute. In the 41st minute, Hélder Veiga ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Pedro Paulo Carvalho was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-1. 46 minutes into the game, Juarês Barbosa was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Tigrinho's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Gremio Fc the free kick. The supporters of Gremio Fc booed when Tigrinho was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 46 match minutes in a wonderful position. Juarês Barbosa didn't get a good kick on the ball. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The wind increased when Dráuzio Cardozo made the kick off in the second half. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Eriberto Goiano in the 57th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Emílio Vieira prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Dênis Ortiz sent away a hard shot on goal in the 59th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Alfredo Trigo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 63rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Gremio Fc's supporters crossed their fingers, but Washington dos Santos was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Ronaldão Alves charged in rather forcefully in the 73rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Ronaldão Alves the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. If Dênis Ortiz had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 79th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 81 minutes into the match, Tigrinho's goal looked a bit too open when Hélder Veiga came free, but Pedro Paulo Carvalho reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When the match clock showed 84 minutes, the score became 3-2 when Eriberto Goiano sped through Gremio Fc's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Emílio Vieira. Hélder Veiga sent away a hard shot on goal in the 88th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Dráuzio Cardozo hit a great freekick 96 minutes into the match. Gremio Fc's supporters were dissatisfied at the end of the match because Tigrinho had won, even though Gremio Fc had held more of the ball.
