The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Walmyr Abreu during the 3rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After a rather tough play, Palmorindo's Walmyr Abreu got a free kick in the 3rd minute. 17 minutes into the game, Hudson Valle cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Evandro Correia was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Henrique Vargas kicked well hit freekick during the 20th minute of the match. With a little luck, Japira SS's Tostão Figueiredo got control of the ball when Walmyr Abreu tried to sneak it across the goal line. Walmyr Abreu could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 24th minute of the match, but Tostão Figueiredo made a huge save. In the 27th minute, Luiz Fábio Aparecido hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After having played for 28 minutes, Walmyr Abreu managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Palmorindo's supporters crossed their fingers, but Walmyr Abreu was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 32nd minute, Daniel da Fonseca hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Evandro Correia took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Hudson Valle, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Japira SS's Hudson Valle got a good chance for a goal in the 36th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 38th minute, Henrique Vargas reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Tostão Figueiredo. The goal made the score 1-1. After 41 played minutes Japira SS got a freekick which was hit by Luiz Fábio Aparecido. Ernani Alves was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 42nd played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. A collision led to Palmorindo getting a freekick after 44 minutes play. Henrique Vargas hit a great ball. José Vítor Nóbrega sent away a hard shot on goal in the 45th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.

The wind increased when Elano de Almeida made the kick off in the second half. Tostão Figueiredo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Walmyr Abreu in the 52nd minute of play. Hudson Valle could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 56th minute of the match, but Evandro Correia made a huge save. 62 minutes into the match, Palmorindo's goalkeeper Evandro Correia had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Hudson Valle. Amadeu Velloso struck a weak shot in the 63rd minute. Evandro Correia didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Japira SS. Henrique Vargas hit a great freekick 63 minutes into the match. In the 67th minute, Elano de Almeida left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Palmorindo fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-1. An unexpectedly hard shot by Daniel da Fonseca in the 70th minute of play forced Japira SS's goalkeeper Tostão Figueiredo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 71 minutes, Guilherme Soares mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Japira SS and the Palmorindo players grew even worse after the yellow card. Tostão Figueiredo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Elano de Almeida, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Tostão Figueiredo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Walmyr Abreu in the 76th minute of play. Leonel Fantini kicked well hit freekick during the 80th minute of the match. Tostão Figueiredo stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Elano de Almeida's shot from short distance in the 85th minute. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Palmorindo fans cheered their team off the field, for while Japira SS had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
