After a defensive mix-up in Januaria's zone, Dadá Paraense stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. William Peixoto came out of the goal and Dadá Paraense tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Luís Fernando Arantes in the 24th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck William Peixoto prevented the ball from getting in the gole. The audience was convinced that Luís Fernando Arantes's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but William Peixoto was relentless in the 26th minute of the game. In the 27th minute Dadá Paraense shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but William Peixoto saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Norberto Nascimento fell near the penalty area in the 32nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Januaria's protests and gave Norberto Nascimento a yellow card for diving instead. In the 32nd minute, Norberto Nascimento hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. An unexpectedly hard shot by Dadá Paraense in the 33rd minute of play forced Januaria's goalkeeper William Peixoto to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Dé de Almeida succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 1-2 in the 45th playminute. After the first half Placa were leading 1-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Olavo Pena to make the kick off. William Peixoto showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Dadá Paraense in the 51st minute of the match. After 52 played minutes Januaria got a freekick which was hit by Orlando do Nascimento. With an all-out effort, Placa's William Peixoto threw himself towards the right post 63 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Dadá Paraense, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. In the 64th minute, Luís Fernando Arantes got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. William Peixoto took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Dadá Paraense, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In a very dangerous position, a player in Januaria fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 70th minute. Penalty! When the match clock showed 76 minutes, the score became 1-5 when Luís Fernando Arantes sped through Januaria's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of William Peixoto. Severino Mendes showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-6. The crowd rose to their feet as Placa's Dadá Paraense slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of William Peixoto. That made the score 1-7 after 98 minutes of play. The Januaria supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Placa's performance. The match ended with a win for Placa.
