After some fancy dribbling in the 7th minute, Osvaldo Garcia managed to get in a good position for a shot. Grêmio PR's supporters rose to their feet, but Osvaldo Garcia was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Sérgio Paulista breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Osvaldo Santos received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 13th minute. Sérgio Paulista tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Jonathan Furtado struck a weak shot in the 18th minute. Sérgio Paulista didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Grêmio PR. After a rather tough play, Maratoneiro's Tales Leão got a free kick in the 25th minute. Maratoneiro's Sérgio Paulista played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jonathan Furtado in the 29th minute of play. Sérgio Paulista took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jonathan Furtado, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Osvaldo Santos recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 37th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Tales Leão's late challenge caught a Grêmio PR's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Tales Leão helped the player get up and apologised. If Osvaldo Santos had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 45th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Tales Santos to make the kick off. Luiz Gustavo Arruda kicked well hit freekick during the 51st minute of the match. A collision led to Grêmio PR getting a freekick after 53 minutes play. Luiz Eduardo Baiano hit a great ball. 57 minutes into the game, Grêmio PR's Osvaldo Santos nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Tales Santos fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 82nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Fernandão Reis having to interfere. Tales Leão was shown his second yellow card after 83 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. In the 84th match minute, Maratoneiro was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Tales Leão to maneuver through the defense.
