The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Joélson Moreno hit a great freekick 3 minutes into the match. Ibuaco's Falcão de Toledo couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 4th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Sampa FC. 8 minutes into the match, Sampa FC's goal looked a bit too open when Carlos Fernando Motta came free, but Elder Capixaba reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 10 minutes into the match, Raphael Negri had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Elder Capixaba. Sampa FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Raphael Negri was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. João Pedro Paiva received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 14th minute. Juninho Tróia tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 16 minutes into the game, Diamantino Paiva cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-1. Juninho Tróia was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Juninho Tróia made a fantastic save in the 22nd minute, when João Pedro Paiva sent off a good shot on target. Elder Capixaba made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Raphael Negri in the 24th minute of play. Diamantino Paiva struck a weak shot in the 27th minute. Juninho Tróia didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Sampa FC. In the 29th minute Carlos Fernando Motta shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Elder Capixaba saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Elder Capixaba showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Carlos Fernando Motta in the 30th minute of the match. João Pedro Paiva who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 32ndth minute tested the skills of Juninho Tróia when he managed to save the team from getting behind. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Raphael Negri in the 38th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Elder Capixaba saved Sampa FC from getting behind. 40 minutes into the match, Carlos Fernando Motta notched a goal, 1-2, to the right of Sampa FC's Elder Capixaba. Elder Capixaba was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Elder Capixaba stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Carlos Fernando Motta's shot from short distance in the 47th minute. Disappointed in the 1-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

After 72 played minutes Sampa FC got a freekick which was hit by Eduardo Travassos. In the 77th minute the ball was on its way in behind Ibuaco's goalkeeper Juninho Tróia, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Diamantino Paiva in the 78th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Juninho Tróia prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Ian Siqueira's late challenge caught a Ibuaco's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Ian Siqueira helped the player get up and apologised. When the match had been going on for 81 minutes, Ibuaco's Falcão de Toledo got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Elder Capixaba. If Raphael Negri had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 85th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Ademar Rossi sent away a hard shot on goal in the 90th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 95 minutes into the match, Carlos Fernando Motta dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Elder Capixaba, 1-4. The Sampa FC fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Ibuaco were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
