But to his dismay, Osvaldinho Perez quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-0. Tiaguinho Goiano made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Dadá Luz in the 20th minute of play. 22 minutes into the game, Didi Braga cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-1. Tiaguinho Goiano was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. After 26 minutes, Joélson Perez mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Flamengo and the Soltas AD players grew even worse after the yellow card. Arnaldo Carioca took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 27th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Tiaguinho Goiano. Flamengo's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Soltas AD's Claudinei de Souza proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 30th minute of the match, managed to save Soltas AD from getting a goal against them. Robinho Souto blasted a shot towards the goal in the 49th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Claudinei de Souza having to make a save.

An unexpectedly hard shot by Claudinho Guimarães in the 54th minute of play forced Soltas AD's goalkeeper Claudinei de Souza to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Tiaguinho Goiano took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Dadá Luz, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 58thth minute of the game Osvaldinho Perez who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Soltas AD's Claudinei de Souza was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Flamengo fully deserved thier win.
