Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Carlos Fernando Motta started the match with the kick off in front of an excited audience. 4 minutes into the match, Ibuaco's goal looked a bit too open when Emílio Quintal came free, but Juninho Tróia reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Emílio Quintal fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 6th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Juninho Tróia having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Emílio Quintal in the 9th minute of play forced Ibuaco's goalkeeper Juninho Tróia to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 10 minutes had been played when some careless play by Ibuaco's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Claudinho Guimarães was slow to take the kick. During this time Flamengo's players had a chance to rest. The corner led Flamengo's Claudinho Guimarães to fire away a dangerous shot which Juninho Tróia despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Emílio Quintal took the ball and in the 19 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Juninho Tróia. Juninho Tróia dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-2. When Flamengo's Claudinho Guimarães in the 22nd minute got a chance for a shot 22nd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Ibuaco's goalie prevented a goal. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Durvalino Travassos during the 25th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After a rather tough play, Flamengo's Durvalino Travassos got a free kick in the 26th minute. 28 minutes in the game Beto Britto did a throw-in, and the ball was quickly in game thanks to Hélder Tasso. In the 31st minute, Agostinho Quadros hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Emílio Quintal in the 32nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Juninho Tróia saved Ibuaco from getting behind. Juninho Tróia showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Emílio Quintal, who was totally free with the ball in the 35th minute. Emílio Quintal sent away a hard shot on goal in the 38th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Claudinho Guimarães received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 39th minute. Juninho Tróia tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Flamengo's Claudinho Guimarães in the 46th minute got a chance for a shot 46th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Ibuaco's goalie prevented a goal. Disappointed in the 0-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Claudinho Guimarães to make the kick off. Osvaldinho Perez charged in rather forcefully in the 54th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Osvaldinho Perez the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Ibuaco's Juninho Tróia played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Claudinho Guimarães in the 56th minute of play. 59 minutes into the game, Beto Britto was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Flamengo's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Ibuaco the free kick. In a very dangerous position, a player in Flamengo fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 59th minute. Penalty! In the 60th minute there was a penalty for Ibuaco. Falcão de Toledo stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Tiaguinho Goiano. 1-2. With a little luck, Ibuaco's Juninho Tróia got control of the ball when Emílio Quintal tried to sneak it across the goal line. Flamengo's Emílio Quintal got a good chance for a goal in the 73rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If Claudinho Guimarães had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 75th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Juninho Tróia made a fantastic save in the 79th minute, when Osvaldinho Perez sent off a good shot on target. After a defensive mix-up in Ibuaco's zone, Emílio Quintal stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Juninho Tróia came out of the goal and Emílio Quintal tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Carlos Fernando Motta struck a weak shot in the 84th minute. Tiaguinho Goiano didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ibuaco. When Emílio Quintal came up free with the goalie in the 91st minute, the Flamengo fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Emílio Quintal couldn't finish the play. After having played for 93 minutes, Emílio Quintal managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Flamengo's supporters crossed their fingers, but Emílio Quintal was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. When Carlos Fernando Motta fell near the penalty area in the 94th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Ibuaco's protests and gave Carlos Fernando Motta a yellow card for diving instead. After 94 played minutes Ibuaco got a freekick which was hit by Carlos Fernando Motta. Raphael Negri recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 96th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The Ibuaco fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Flamengo were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
