Rodriguinho Marques fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 11th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Elder Capixaba having to interfere. Nação Rubro-negra F.C's Germano Donatello played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Diamantino Paiva in the 16th minute of play. Eduardo Travassos charged in rather forcefully in the 22nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Eduardo Travassos the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After a rather tough play, Sampa FC's Eduardo Travassos got a free kick in the 22nd minute. If Rodriguinho Marques had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 24th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The crowd rose to their feet as Diamantino Paiva kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Germano Donatello. That made the score 1-0 in the 27 minute of play. With an all-out effort, Sampa FC's Germano Donatello threw himself towards the right post 32 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Diamantino Paiva, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Germano Donatello came out of the goal in the 32nd minute to try and stop a shot by Sampa FC's Diamantino Paiva. But to his dismay, Diamantino Paiva quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-0. If Yuri Galvão had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 35th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The wind increased when Rodriguinho Marques made the kick off in the second half. After 52 played minutes Sampa FC got a freekick which was hit by Eduardo Travassos. If Rodriguinho Marques had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 53rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. If Afonso Antunes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 56th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Afonso Antunes came up free with the goalie in the 59th minute, the Nação Rubro-negra F.C fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Afonso Antunes couldn't finish the play. Germano Donatello made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from João Pedro Paiva in the 63rd minute of play. After having played for 68 minutes, Yuri Galvão managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Nação Rubro-negra F.C's supporters crossed their fingers, but Yuri Galvão was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 71 minutes into the match, Nação Rubro-negra F.C's goal looked a bit too open when João Pedro Paiva came free, but Germano Donatello reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. With a little luck, Sampa FC's Elder Capixaba got control of the ball when Yuri Galvão tried to sneak it across the goal line. The Sampa FC players were eager to celebrate when the final whistle sounded. They had somehow managed to win, even though the away team had held the majority of the possession.
