In the 14th minute João Pedro Paiva shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Claudinei de Souza saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. João Pedro Paiva recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 15th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. When Sampa FC's Diamantino Paiva in the 22nd minute got a chance for a shot 22nd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. The supporters of Soltas AD booed when Sampa FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 27 match minutes in a wonderful position. Joélson Moreno didn't get a good kick on the ball. Claudinei de Souza showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Diamantino Paiva, who was totally free with the ball in the 29th minute. If Dadá Luz had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 32nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 35th minute, Diamantino Paiva got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Dadá Luz fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 39th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Elder Capixaba having to interfere. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.
