After 2 minutes, Hortêncio da Silveira mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Caravelas and the Targinos players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 2nd match minute, Caravelas was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Hortêncio da Silveira to maneuver through the defense. Benjamim Ceresso took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Pedrinho Domingues, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Pedrinho Domingues in the 6th minute of play forced Targinos's goalkeeper Benjamim Ceresso to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Targinos's zone, Emanuel Leite stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Benjamim Ceresso came out of the goal and Emanuel Leite tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When Caravelas's Pedrinho Domingues in the 14th minute got a chance for a shot 14th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Targinos's goalie prevented a goal. In the 15th match minute, Targinos was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Romeu Cardozo to maneuver through the defense. In the 16th minute of the match Paulo Renato Terra sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Benjamim Ceresso skillfully saved the ball. When Evaristo Catarinense came up free with the goalie in the 17th minute, the Caravelas fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Evaristo Catarinense couldn't finish the play. Benjamim Ceresso took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Pedrinho Domingues, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Benjamim Ceresso showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Evaristo Catarinense, who was totally free with the ball in the 25th minute. When Emanuel Leite came up free with the goalie in the 28th minute, the Caravelas fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Emanuel Leite couldn't finish the play. After some fancy dribbling in the 32nd minute, Célio Pitta managed to get in a good position for a shot. Caravelas's supporters rose to their feet, but Célio Pitta was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Benjamim Ceresso breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 33 minutes into the match, Targinos's goal looked a bit too open when Emanuel Leite came free, but Benjamim Ceresso reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Benjamim Ceresso took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Kauan Veloso, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Carlos Alberto Moreno kicked well hit freekick during the 39th minute of the match. Benjamim Ceresso came out of the goal in the 44th minute to try and stop a shot by Caravelas's Evaristo Catarinense. But to his dismay, Evaristo Catarinense quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. Pedrinho Domingues's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Benjamim Ceresso read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 48th minute of play. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.
The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Pedrinho Domingues was the one to do the kick off. In the 52nd match minute, Targinos was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Carlos Alberto Moreno to maneuver through the defense. After 52 played minutes Caravelas got a freekick which was hit by Evaristo Catarinense. Pedrinho Domingues received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Benjamim Ceresso came out and tried to block the shot, but Pedrinho Domingues slotted it home off the left post making it 0-2 in the 56th minute. Benjamim Ceresso made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Pedrinho Domingues in the 60th minute of play. When Paulo Renato Terra fell near the penalty area in the 66th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Caravelas's protests and gave Paulo Renato Terra a yellow card for diving instead. Paulo Renato Terra kicked well hit freekick during the 66th minute of the match. After 69th play minutes Pedrinho Domingues shot 1-3, a short shot which went by Benjamim Ceresso and just under the crossbar into goal. Evaristo Catarinense succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 1-4 in the 72nd playminute. Valdir Miranda hit a great freekick 75 minutes into the match. When Paulo Renato Terra came up free with the goalie in the 76th minute, the Caravelas fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Paulo Renato Terra couldn't finish the play. Benjamim Ceresso was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. In the 87th minute, João Pedro Prata hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Paulo Renato Terra's shot from long distance in the 97th minute was not bad at all, but Targinos's Benjamim Ceresso knew what was happening and pushed the ball into his arms just before it hit the right post. Caravelas played a much better game than Targinos and deserved their victory. The Targinos players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
