The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Sérgio Cruz during the 3rd minute. João Pedro Alves received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 14th minute. Hélder Amaral tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 19 minutes, Walmir Severo mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the SCCPHadez and the Itamaraca players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 45th minute, Doriva Brasil made a precise shot to the right of Hélder Amaral. Itamaraca's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. After the first half SCCPHadez were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

After a rather tough play, SCCPHadez's Emílio Neiva got a free kick in the 55th minute. 71 minutes into the match, SCCPHadez's João Pedro Alves sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Hélder Amaral narrowly saved just below the crossbar.
