Romário Hermes's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Hélder Amaral read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 11th minute of play. After 11 played minutes Itamaraca got a freekick which was hit by Sérgio Cruz. Romário Hermes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 13th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Hélder Amaral having to interfere. When Itamaraca's Ramiro Moura in the 15th minute got a chance for a shot 15th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Caracituba's goalie prevented a goal. Hélder Amaral made a fantastic save in the 17th minute, when Adhemar Mello sent off a good shot on target. 31 minutes into the match, Ramiro Moura had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Eugênio Quirino. Caracituba's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Ramiro Moura was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-1. Gildo Zonta kicked well hit freekick during the 33rd minute of the match. The supporters of Caracituba booed when Itamaraca was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 34 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ramiro Moura didn't get a good kick on the ball. Itamaraca's Hélder Amaral proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 35th minute of the match, managed to save Itamaraca from getting a goal against them. If Celso Sanches had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 37th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 38 played minutes Itamaraca got a freekick which was hit by Sérgio Cruz. Eugênio Quirino took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ramiro Moura, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Sérgio Cruz hit a great freekick 45 minutes into the match. 46 minutes into the game, Sérgio Cruz was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Itamaraca's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Caracituba the free kick. The supporters of Caracituba booed when Itamaraca was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 46 match minutes in a wonderful position. Sérgio Cruz didn't get a good kick on the ball. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

After 62 played minutes Itamaraca got a freekick which was hit by Ramiro Moura. If Adhemar Mello had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 64th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The audience thought a goal was coming when Ramiro Moura got free with Eugênio Quirino in the 66th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Hélder Amaral showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Adhemar Mello in the 67th minute of the match. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Romário Hermes in the 68th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Hélder Amaral saved Itamaraca from getting behind. Túlio Arruda's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Hélder Amaral read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 85th minute of play. 86 minutes into the match, Caracituba's goalkeeper Eugênio Quirino had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Ramiro Moura. After some fancy dribbling in the 87th minute, Romário Hermes managed to get in a good position for a shot. Caracituba's supporters rose to their feet, but Romário Hermes was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Hélder Amaral breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. An unexpectedly hard shot by Celso Sanches in the 91st minute of play forced Itamaraca's goalkeeper Hélder Amaral to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Túlio Arruda received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 92nd minute. Hélder Amaral tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Caracituba's supporters crossed their fingers, but Adhemar Mello was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 98th minute, Celso Sanches made a precise shot to the right of Hélder Amaral. Itamaraca's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-1. There was no doubt that Caracituba were the better team. Caracituba's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
