Sport Recife's Amadeu Linares tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. After some fancy dribbling in the 7th minute, Ronaldinho Valle managed to get in a good position for a shot. Navirai's supporters rose to their feet, but Ronaldinho Valle was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Amadeu Linares breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Dalmo Prado in the 10th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Adalberto Rosa saved Navirai from getting behind. In the 13th minute Afonso Falcão shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Adalberto Rosa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Manuel Silva recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 14th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Amadeu Linares made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ronaldinho Valle in the 17th minute of play. A collision led to Sport Recife getting a freekick after 22 minutes play. Amadeu Mota hit a great ball. After a rather tough play, Navirai's Ronaldinho Valle got a free kick in the 22nd minute. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Dalmo Prado in the 25th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Adalberto Rosa prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 30th minute Sport Recife were awarded a corner. Wilian Braga went to the cornerflag to take it. 31 minutes into the match, Ronaldinho Valle notched a goal, 2-1, to the right of Sport Recife's Amadeu Linares. Amadeu Linares was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. In the 35thth minute of the game Dalmo Prado who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Navirai's Adalberto Rosa was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. 36 minutes into the game, Ronaldinho Valle recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Amadeu Linares. Ronaldinho Valle showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 3-1. In the 43rd minute, Dalmo Prado made a precise shot to the right of Adalberto Rosa. Navirai's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 3-2. When Manuel Silva came up free with the goalie in the 47th minute, the Navirai fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Manuel Silva couldn't finish the play. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 3-2 at half-time.
The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Dalmo Prado was the one to do the kick off. 51 minutes into the match, Lúcio Guimarães notched a goal, 4-2, to the right of Sport Recife's Amadeu Linares. Amadeu Linares was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Ronaldinho Valle fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 57th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Amadeu Linares having to interfere. Amadeu Linares showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Manuel Silva, who was totally free with the ball in the 62nd minute. Dalmo Prados short, quick shot in the 63rdth minute got Adalberto Rosa to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. An unexpectedly hard shot by Manuel Silva in the 64th minute of play forced Sport Recife's goalkeeper Amadeu Linares to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The audience was convinced that Dalmo Prado's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Adalberto Rosa was relentless in the 74th minute of the game. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Dalmo Prado in the 83rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Adalberto Rosa saved Navirai from getting behind. 84 minutes into the match, Sport Recife's goal looked a bit too open when Manuel Silva came free, but Amadeu Linares reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Sport Recife's supporters crossed their fingers, but Dalmo Prado was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After 91 minutes, Nestor Medeiros mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Navirai and the Sport Recife players grew even worse after the yellow card. 93 minutes into the match, Zeca Nascimento had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Adalberto Rosa. Navirai's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Zeca Nascimento was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 4-3.
