Navegantes's Lauro Barral played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Pedro Paulo Cosme in the 24th minute of play. A collision led to Navegantes getting a freekick after 25 minutes play. Aníbal de Lima hit a great ball. Davi Meireles who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 33rdth minute tested the skills of Serginho Rossi when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Davi Meireles's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 37thth minute, Serginho Rossi skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. After some careless play in the Navegantes defense, Sandro Cabral kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Lauro Barral. The Navegantes fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Lauro Barral should have stopped the shot. In the 47th minute Dinei Corrêa shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Serginho Rossi saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

In the 55th match minute, Navegantes was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Adhemar Negri to maneuver through the defense. Duda Gaúcho kicked well hit freekick during the 60th minute of the match. Anísio Cavalcante could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 61st minute of the match, but Lauro Barral made a huge save. 62 minutes into the game, Anísio Cavalcante was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Hambúrguer FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Navegantes the free kick. In the 63rd match minute, Hambúrguer FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Anísio Cavalcante to maneuver through the defense. The audience thought a goal was coming when Pedro Paulo Cosme got free with Lauro Barral in the 67th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Serginho Rossi made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Dinei Corrêa in the 76th minute of play. When Navegantes's Davi Meireles in the 78th minute got a chance for a shot 78th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. Kaká Paiva was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 92nd minute. Hambúrguer FC's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Davi Meireles in the 94th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Serginho Rossi prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Sandro Cabral sent away a hard shot on goal in the 98th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The Navegantes fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Hambúrguer FC were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
