The audience thought a goal was coming when Gaston Balesio got free with Edvaldo Guedes in the 34th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Mimosos's Luís Bezerra played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Giuseppe de Senna in the 35th minute of play. Edvaldo Guedes was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Aníbal Bittencourt showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 2-0 in the 45 minute of play. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-0 at half-time.
