Válter Maranhense hit a great freekick 2 minutes into the match. Imbiara EC's Edvaldo Guedes proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 9th minute of the match, managed to save Imbiara EC from getting a goal against them. Kléberson Duarte charged in rather forcefully in the 10th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Kléberson Duarte the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After a rather tough play, SOCCER FC's Kléberson Duarte got a free kick in the 11th minute. After 12 played minutes, Imbiara EC's Albertinho Guimarães shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Vicente Loyola came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Imbiara EC reached it. After 12 played minutes SOCCER FC got a freekick which was hit by Vivaldo Pinheiro. After 19 played minutes Imbiara EC got a freekick which was hit by Genílson Netto. After some fancy dribbling in the 21st minute, Joaquim Mazza managed to get in a good position for a shot. SOCCER FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Joaquim Mazza was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Edvaldo Guedes breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Fabiano Mandrak kicked well hit freekick during the 22nd minute of the match. Edvaldo Guedes showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Joaquim Mazza, who was totally free with the ball in the 25th minute. A collision led to Imbiara EC getting a freekick after 29 minutes play. Válter Maranhense hit a great ball. In the 41st match minute, SOCCER FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Sílvio Luiz Cunha to maneuver through the defense. The supporters of Imbiara EC booed when SOCCER FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 43 match minutes in a wonderful position. Richard Cardoso didn't get a good kick on the ball. Genílson Netto's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Vicente Loyola read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 43rd minute of play. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Richard Cardoso was the one to do the kick off. The long shot by Emerson Souto in the 58th minute really tested Vicente Loyola's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. After a defensive mix-up in SOCCER FC's zone, Genílson Netto stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Vicente Loyola came out of the goal and Genílson Netto tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When Diego Costa came up free with the goalie in the 64th minute, the Imbiara EC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Diego Costa couldn't finish the play. Richard Cardoso kicked well hit freekick during the 68th minute of the match. Edvaldo Guedes showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Joaquim Mazza, who was totally free with the ball in the 89th minute. SOCCER FC's Vicente Loyola played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Genílson Netto in the 94th minute of play. The teams fought very hard right up to the final whistle. Both sets of players were happy to go away with a draw.
