Fausto Vander received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 4th minute. Chicão Hoffmann tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Topazio EC's Chicão Hoffmann played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Felipe Lago in the 12th minute of play. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 13th minute of the game. One of Topazio EC:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of S.E.Bangu:s goal. The supporters of Topazio EC booed when S.E.Bangu was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 20 match minutes in a wonderful position. Clemente Cerezo didn't get a good kick on the ball. After having played for 26 minutes, Fausto Vander managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. S.E.Bangu's supporters crossed their fingers, but Fausto Vander was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. A collision led to S.E.Bangu getting a freekick after 27 minutes play. Benê Costa hit a great ball. When Juarês Aguiar came up free with the goalie in the 28th minute, the Topazio EC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Juarês Aguiar couldn't finish the play. Rony Paulista sent away a hard shot on goal in the 32nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a rather tough play, Topazio EC's Tiago Gabriel Torres got a free kick in the 34th minute. Gilvan Veloso's late challenge caught a S.E.Bangu's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Gilvan Veloso helped the player get up and apologised. In the 36th match minute, Topazio EC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Gilvan Veloso to maneuver through the defense. Chicão Hoffmann stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Fausto Vander's shot from short distance in the 37th minute. 44 minutes into the match, S.E.Bangu's goalkeeper Soulis Papadopoulos had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Tiago Gabriel Torres. In the 44th match minute, S.E.Bangu was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Paulão da Silveira to maneuver through the defense. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Fausto Vander stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. 50 minutes into the match, Topazio EC's Juarês Aguiar sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Soulis Papadopoulos narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Topazio EC's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Bernardinho Botelho in the 52nd minute. Tiago Gabriel Torres kicked well hit freekick during the 57th minute of the match. Fausto Vander sent away a hard shot on goal in the 58th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 66th minute, Juarês Aguiar ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Soulis Papadopoulos was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-1. S.E.Bangu's Rony Paulista got a good chance for a goal in the 70th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Soulis Papadopoulos took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Tiago Gabriel Torres, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Topazio EC's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Bernardinho Botelho in the 74th minute. A nice corner shot did that Bernardinho Botelho got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Soulis Papadopoulos quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. After 78 played minutes S.E.Bangu got a freekick which was hit by Benê Costa. Chicão Hoffmann took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Rony Paulista, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side.
