To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 8 minutes into the match, Oficial American Club's goal looked a bit too open when Luiz Fernando de Lima came free, but Conrado de Salles reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 9 minutes into the match, Elano Veiga notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of Oficial American Club's Conrado de Salles. Conrado de Salles was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. After some careless play in the Oficial American Club defense, Luiz Fernando de Lima kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Conrado de Salles. The Oficial American Club fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Conrado de Salles should have stopped the shot. An unexpectedly hard shot by Armando Piccoli in the 17th minute of play forced Oficial American Club's goalkeeper Conrado de Salles to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Walmir Penha had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 24th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 26th minute Elano Veiga shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Conrado de Salles saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Dalmo dos Santos sent away a hard shot on goal in the 28th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Armando Piccoli struck a weak shot in the 31st minute. Conrado de Salles didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Santos FC. In the 44th minute, Luiz Fernando de Lima left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Santos FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-4.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Armando Piccoli was the one to do the kick off. After 54 minutes Oficial American Club's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Walmir Penha who took care of the corner kick. The corner ended in Walmir Penha almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Oficial American Club's Conrado de Salles did a great save. Luiz Fernando de Lima sent away a hard shot on goal in the 57th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. The supporters of Santos FC booed when Oficial American Club was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 60 match minutes in a wonderful position. Adrianinho Monteiro didn't get a good kick on the ball. Dráuzio Paes charged in rather forcefully in the 64th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Dráuzio Paes the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 64th minute, Dráuzio Paes hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Oficial American Club's Agostinho Souto managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Dráuzio Paes in the 67 minute of the game. Conrado de Salles made an important save on a dangerous shot by Luiz Fernando de Lima in the 71st minute. In the 74th minute, Elano Veiga got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After 76th play minutes Armando Piccoli shot 0-5, a short shot which went by Conrado de Salles and just under the crossbar into goal. Sigvald Sadolin made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Adrianinho Monteiro in the 81st minute of play. Arnaldo Velasco struck a weak shot in the 82nd minute. Conrado de Salles didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Santos FC. Oficial American Club's Adrianinho Monteiro got a good chance for a goal in the 84th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Adrianinho Monteiro recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 86th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Oficial American Club's Conrado de Salles proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 91st minute of the match, managed to save Oficial American Club from getting a goal against them. Armando Piccoli fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 92nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Conrado de Salles having to interfere. A collision led to Oficial American Club getting a freekick after 93 minutes play. Víktor de Mendonça hit a great ball. Conrado de Salles showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Elano Veiga in the 95th minute of the match. Santos FC played a much better game than Oficial American Club and deserved their victory. The Oficial American Club players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
