Reynaldo Cardozo's late challenge caught a Jequi's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Reynaldo Cardozo helped the player get up and apologised. In the 36th match minute, S E Palmeiras was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Reynaldo Cardozo to maneuver through the defense. After 45 played minutes Jequi got a freekick which was hit by Ciro Leão. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

In the 86thth minute of the game Gigi Covaci who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but S E Palmeiras's Falcão Rosa was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Falcão Rosa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gigi Covaci in the 90th minute of play. The audience was convinced that Gigi Covaci's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Falcão Rosa was relentless in the 96th minute of the game. There was no doubt that Jequi were the better team. Jequi's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
