In the 34th minute, Thunder Palmeiras's Giovani Vargas ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Perivaldo Barros. Perivaldo Barros yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-0. If Gerson Simões had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 39th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 42 minutes into the match, vai quem quer's goalkeeper Perivaldo Barros had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Teo Afonso. If Giovani Vargas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 45th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 46th match minute, vai quem quer was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Raimundo de Mendonça to maneuver through the defense. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The wind increased when Irinel Codrea made the kick off in the second half. Perivaldo Barros stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Irinel Codrea's shot from short distance in the 52nd minute. Perivaldo Barros was left in no man's land by his defense there! After having played for 80 minutes, Giovani Vargas managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Thunder Palmeiras's supporters crossed their fingers, but Giovani Vargas was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Adriano Britto was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Thunder Palmeiras walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
