Jequi's Genílson Pitta was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Zeca Couve in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. Gigi Covaci's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Zeca Couve read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 7th minute of play. Jequi were furious when Barry Ellershaw was red carded, 11 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. A collision led to Jequi getting a freekick after 11 minutes play. Barry Ellershaw hit a great ball. 12 minutes into the match, Mandalas's Magno Freitas broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. 21 minutes into the match, Jequi's goal looked a bit too open when Marquinhos Ramalho came free, but Rúben Trigueiro reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Rúben Trigueiro was out of position in the 22 minute of play, and Magno Freitas capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Magno Freitas really showed his touch with that goal: 1-0. Rúben Trigueiro made an important save on a dangerous shot by Marquinhos Ramalho in the 27th minute. When Zé Roberto Ceresso fell near the penalty area in the 37th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Jequi's protests and gave Zé Roberto Ceresso a yellow card for diving instead. Magno Freitas took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 38th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Rúben Trigueiro. Jequi's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Rúben Trigueiro showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Marquinhos Ramalho, who was totally free with the ball in the 40th minute. Rúben Trigueiro showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Marquinhos Ramalho in the 41st minute of the match. Linus Ström could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 42nd minute of the match, but Rúben Trigueiro made a huge save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gigi Covaci in the 45th minute of play forced Mandalas's goalkeeper Zeca Couve to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Gigi Covaci was the one to do the kick off. Facundo Quiroga hit a great freekick 51 minutes into the match. Jequi's Rúben Trigueiro played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Marquinhos Ramalho in the 62nd minute of play. After 66 minutes Mandalas's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Zé Roberto Ceresso who took care of the corner kick. The corner led Jequi's Zé Roberto Ceresso to fire away a dangerous shot which Zeca Couve despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. After some careless play in the Jequi defense, Marquinhos Ramalho kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Rúben Trigueiro. The Jequi fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Rúben Trigueiro should have stopped the shot. In the 71st minute, Genílson Pitta hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Rúben Trigueiro showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Luan Silveira in the 72nd minute of the match. Rúben Trigueiro was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. After 92 played minutes Mandalas got a freekick which was hit by Jaap Onega.
